About Karma's Dachshunds

Karma's Dachshunds is family-owned and operated right here in Beloit, Oh., by me, Karen Callahan and my husband, Neil!  I started breeding Miniature Dachshunds in 2006.  Every buyer is treated like they are a part of our family. When you buy one of our babies, you are taking a piece of us with you into your homes!  You are stuck with us for the life of your pet.  Many of our buyers are repeat buyers after owning one of our babies.  I have many friends, family and even our Vet, Dr. Gainey, who can't resist owning not just one but two or more of our babies!  I have done tons of research and continue to everyday.  I strive for health and temperament along with conformation on and in our puppies.  We socialize them in our home where they get to be around the hub bub of our everyday lives. I do the ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) on them after day 3 of birth.  They are handled everyday and loved on, so that they get used to being handled.
We take great pride in raising up our babies in our home until they leave us....even if that is at 4 months of age.  We will never raise our babies outdoors.  We train them starting around 4 weeks of age to be on a grooming table and a few other surfaces, so there is no fear of being placed on things, for instance, the Vet's exam table and grooming tables.  Our babies are extremely well adjusted and if they aren't, they don't leave here until they are!  We do health testing on them to make sure we are breeding sound, healthy dogs!  My Vet fills out a check list for every single one of our babies before they leave us to assure you that you are getting an extremely healthy baby!
We have raised 5 adult children between us and currently have 9 grand children!  We love our 4 legged kids as much as our 2 legged ones!
I have worked in many fields throughout my lifetime so far, managing businesses to Private home health care, raising my grand children and now showing and breeding this beloved breed!  My husband has worked in the Oil & Gas field for 31 yrs now, as of 2015.  Raising the Dachshunds has turned into my full time job/hobby now.  I am with them 24/7 and am very happy to be able to be at home with them where I can share my love and nurture them, as they should be!
We just bought a house and moved in on Sept. 28th 2017.  We now have a puppy room where all our babies are born and raised up until they leave our home, at 8 weeks or older.  We have several that live in our home with us and enjoy being spoiled.  We did put up a small kennel (10ft x 20ft) where we house our males while our females are in heat, so that we have no accidental breedings and so that I can better manage our boys. Of course they are all raised up inside our home until they come of breeding age and then they are rotated in and out during heat cycles.  We do what is best for us and our home and babies.  They are all well cared for and have plenty of room to run and play.  We will continue to improve our set up as we go.  I'm sure we will make many changes in the future and always do what we feel is best for us and our babies.
I enjoy showing and raising up this wonderful, stubborn and pleasing breed.  My love for my dogs shows in the way they are raised here at our home.
I do welcome everyone to visit our home, however, please be respectful and know that this is OUR home and we value our family life very much.  Please make appointments to come visit and give us at least an hour or so before showing up.  We may be busy with other things and sometimes we have to plan around our grandkids and their events.  Our family is always growing and love having our grand kids stay on weekends to help socialize our puppies with younger children and kids of all ages.
